Art has the ability to bring some light into dark times and I hope this photograph may have that effect. Some personal reflections: Right after this shoot with Elle Beth, I sat down to select my favorite images and when I came upon this one, I immediately knew we had made something special. Even though it was already quite late, I could not go to sleep until I finished editing it, late into the night. The next day, I still remember how excited I was about the image and I must have looked at it at least ten times throughout the day. Years later, I still feel that way and sometimes I wonder if I will ever take another photograph that gives me a similar sense of satisfaction. I’m not saying these things to brag about my skill or vision, or anything like that. In fact, the whole idea for this particular pose came from the dancer and some of the lighting effects were more coincidental than I’d like to admit. All I really want to express, is just how much this image means to me.
